Social Media in Federal Litigation

On Thursday, June 6, 2019, the Haitian Lawyers Association, in partnership with the Federal Bar Association, South Florida Chapter, presented, Social Media in Federal Litigation, From Case Filing to Discovery.  The panelists were Markenzy Lapointe, Esq., Partner, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and Erica Zaron, Esq., Assistant County Attorney, Miami-Dade County.  They were moderated by Frantz Destin, Jr., Esq.   1.5 CLE credit hours were provided.

Erica and Markenzy provided thoughtful and engaging insight into the use of social media in federal litigation, including how to obtain and preserve it, and how to admit it into federal court.  They discussed both practical and innovative ways to approach evidentiary issues and provided strategies into methods of collection and retention.   Markenzy and Erica also shared with the group war stories where social media was used to their client’s advantage and to their disadvantage.  They both were kind enough to field questions from the group throughout.

Special thanks to the Pillsbury law firm for hosting, to the Haitian Lawyers Association for doing the heavy lifting in putting this CLE together, to our panelists and moderator, and to all those who attended!
